He could try sampling the soil, or even a little bit of a crushed leaf, and see if he can identify any sort of deficiencies or chemical imbalances in what is needed; he's pretty sure he has a database that includes information on marijuana, even if he's probably be useless on the roses. One is relevant to his work, the other is not.
