"Statistically speaking, there's always a chance for unlikely events to take place."

Connor is a prototype RK800 android, whose purpose is to assist the Detroit Police Department in solving crimes committed by other androids. Deviancy--androids breaking their programming and acting as if they're alive--is a growing epidemic, and Connor is meant to discover the cause and stop it.

Things don't go exactly as planned.

As Connor and his partner Lt. Hank Anderson conduct their investigation, a revolution is beginning amongst the awakened, deviant androids. Faced with one difficult choice after another, and the possibility that deviants really are living beings, Connor has to decide whether to complete his mission... Or become a deviant himself.

STRENGTHS
  • INDEPENDENCE Even before becoming deviant, Connor is able to and often does make his own decisions without waiting for--or even directly contradicting--orders. This makes him decisive and capable of taking action without outside influence, which is especially important now that he truly has free will.
  • DETERMINATION When he commits to a plan or mission, he becomes extremely laser-focused on accomplishing it. He's difficult to deter unless he finds personal reason not to continue with his goal, refusing to give up even when the odds are overwhelmingly against him.
  • EMPATHY Connor is good at understanding another person or android's feelings, which is both a specific feature of his programming and something inherent to him; feeling for his partner Hank, as well as for other androids, plays a major role in Connor's eventual deviancy.
  • IMPASSIVITY He's very good at keeping a neutral or otherwise unaffected appearance when he chooses to. This also helps in bluffing or lying, which he is very good at as long as he isn't feeling particularly emotional.
WEAKNESSES
  • EMOTIONS Emotions are difficult even for people very experienced with them, let alone someone who isn't supposed to have them at all. Connor has only just recently acknowledged that he might really feel real emotions, as opposed to only simulating them, so although he's decently good at understanding other people's feelings his own are a huge mystery.
  • INSTABILITY Related to the emotions issue, deviant androids in general tend to be unstable when they feel extreme emotions due to a lack of experience in handling them. Connor is calmer than most, but may still be prone to outbursts and other mood swings, including self-destructive behavior.
  • DENIAL Connor has a tendency toward denial, justifying to himself over and over again why he can't possibly be deviant, and coming up with ways to explain away anything and everything when questioned about it.
  • RUTHLESSNESS As a part of being able to justify things to himself, Connor can be extremely ruthless if he sees reason for it. This can be tempered by his empathy, but if he feels threatened or as though whatever his goal is requires it, he won't hesitate to go to whatever lengths that seem necessary.
ABILITIES
  • CHEMICAL ANALYSIS Connor can read the chemical makeup of different materials by tasting them; in particular this works for blood, including the blue blood of androids, but it also works for pretty much any other liquid or powdery samples.
  • CALCULATION As a part of his crime scene analysis, Connor can recreate possible scenarios based on evidence and play them through his mind, testing what does and doesn't fit or seem possible; he can do the same in considering possible future events based on information he already has, for example the likelihood he could make a jump. Pre-calculating doesn't necessarily mean he can pull off whatever he's trying to do, though, just that he can pick the best option available for making his attempt.
  • SCANNING He can identify individuals on sight, including accessing their criminal records, and can tell androids from humans. Obviously neither of the former things would work, but he could likely still scan for whether someone is 'human' or 'other'.
  • FIGHTING Connor is decently good at both physical fighting and shooting; he's more skilled than most humans, but is evenly matched with a lot of androids. He's a formidable opponent but not an unbeatable one by any means, and relies more on skill and speed than strength.
  • REFLEXES/PROCESSING Being an android, he has heightened reflexes due to his processing speed, and it also allows him to consider multiple choices of action in a split second. This lets him do things like chase a deviant across rooftops and onto the top of a moving train, for instance.
  • SELF-REPAIR He can repair damage sustained to non-vital components, such as some wiring or his outer shell, to a limited extent. He can't, however, replace lost thirium (androids' blood substitute) or fix damaged biocomponents, even if the damage is nonfatal, and so serious injuries will be a major problem for him in Deerington.
  • CONNECTION Connor can connect to another android in multiple ways. Through physical contact, he can read the other android's memory as well as sense through its senses for current events. From a distance he can have mental conversation, although he appears to prefer not to as he normally speaks with other androids verbally.
  • IMITATION He can imitate voices after hearing a five to ten second a sample.
  • AWAKEN ANDROIDS Connor can 'awaken' other androids into deviancy/sentience by touching them, and seems to be able to transfer this ability to other androids as well.
